DEEP TISSUE / SPORT MASSAGE
The technique is based on stretching and pressure. High muscle tension can significantly increase pressure on joints and create malfunction in biomechanics and mobility, as well as potentially lead to compression of nerve roots and/or peripheral nerves. Muscle dysbalances will affect posture, the range of motion in joints and the overall movement pattern. Deep Tissue Massage is one of the key components in the treatment of existing and the prevention of new imbalances.
• Stretch muscles and lower their tonicity, reducing stiffness and tension
• Disengage adhesions and improve the tissue’s elasticity
• Increase blood flow and stimulate the body’s metabolism
• Pain relief
The effects:
CONNECTIVE TISSUE MASSAGE (CTM)
The concept of this reflective zone therapy is based on skin zones (dermatomes) corresponding to inner organs (viscerotomes) owing to the convergence of sensory input from skin and viscera on viscerosomatic neurons in the spinal cord and from there, along specific pathways, to the brain.
CTM is mainly used with adhesions of skin with deeper connective tissues, functional disorder of inner organs and partly with orthopaedic conditions, both at chronic stage (e.g. ailments of the respiratory tract and digestive system, lower back pain), stress in general and neurological disorders, such as after a stroke.
• Increased arterial blood supply to tissues (tripled in muscles, doubled in inner organs)
• Balance the sympathetic & parasympathetic divisions of the autonomic nervous system
• Release deeply held patterns of muscle tensions
• Reduce pain and stimulate the body’s metabolism
The effects:
MANUAL LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE
Fundamental to the body’s balancing of liquids, the lymphatic system is designed to drain fluids and substances, which are not being sufficiently reabsorbed from tissues by the venous system (e.g. proteins, fats, dead cells, water, toxins). Depending on the firmness of the tissue, muscle activity, and the innate capability of the lymphatic system, manual lymphatic drainage may be needed to support the body’s own, natural, lymphatic drainage, such as in cases of post-surgical/post-traumatic swelling, lymphedema following cancer surgery, and in the treatment of migraines & headaches.
The effects:
• Reduce swelling and edema
• Lower the muscles’ tonicity
FOOT REFLEXOLOGY
Found at the centre of this ancient technique is the surface of the foot, which is perceived as a reflective image of the human body with specific zones corresponding to individual body parts and inner organs. Depending on the severity and type of illness, foot reflexology can be used on its own or as an accompanying therapy with illnesses of inner organs, illness in general or simply to relax from daily drains.
• Activate excretion organs, such as kidneys, intestines and the lungs
• Balance your body’s systems (e.g. digestive, respiratory and hormonal)
• Stimulate an upright body posture
• Pain soothing and relaxing
The effects:
KINESIO TAPING
The technique was developed in Japan over 35 years ago. It saw its first worldwide exposure during the 1988 Olympics in Seoul and has since been used in hospitals, clinics and by professional athletes in different fields, to assist in the healing of traumatised tissue, providing support for muscle, joint and fascia without reducing range of motion. Variations in technique and tension allow for a wide range of treatments, depending on the kind of injury/condition. Convolutions, caused by the tape, lift the skin, therefore taking pressure off pain receptors, as well as increasing blood and lymph flow.
• Pain relief and facilitating rehabilitation
• Support muscles in movement and prevent over-contraction
• Facilitate lymphatic flow and reduce swelling, bruising and edema
• Correct joint misalignment and improve awareness of posture & alignment
The effects:
• 100% latex free, heat-sensitive acrylic adhesive, skin-friendly and breathable
• Water-resistant
• One application wearable for 3-5 days
• Elastic, allowing full range of motion

PHYSIOTHERAPY
You will receive a detailed assessment which will focus on both the reasons for your injury and symptoms, as well as specific areas for improvement to prevent recurrence. Analysing your movement patterns will explain any weaknesses and help to understand the cause of injury. Treatment will focus on initial stages of rehabilitation, followed by an individualised rehabilitation program for re-training, strengthening, and improved flexibility to help you achieve each step of your recovery and see you return to optimal sporting performance.
We offer injury assessment, diagnosis and management, neck and back care, post operative physiotherapy, pre and post natal rehabilitation and pelvic floor physiotherapy, headache management, women’s health physiotherapy (pelvic floor and incontinence issues), sports massage, postural issues and aged care rehabilitation.
ORIENTAL MEDICINE
Oriental medicine, also known as traditional Chinese medicine, is the oldest system used in the management of disease, dysfunction and injury in the world. It refers to a range of medical practices that originated throughout Asia. The philosophy of oriental medicine is to treat the whole person—encouraging a healthy body, mind and nervous system to prevent illness and enhance recovery.
As part of the eastern philosophy approach to restore the weakness or imbalance of Qi, which affects key organ systems and can be the underlying cause of disease and disharmony, Total Therapy London will use a broad scope of therapies including acupuncture, needling, tunia, moxibustion and cupping to restore balance to a patient’s Qi, thereby encouraging full health and healing.
HOLISTIC HEALTH
The mind, body and spirit connection is vitally important. We must have all of our systems working in harmony to eradicate dys-function and dys-ease from our existence. We have a deep understanding of what contributes to the emotional, physical, mental and spiritual health of our bodies. Here, you will be supported and guided via education and awareness of the mind-body connection and how thoughts, emotions, stress, pressure and anxiety contribute to physical stress, impacting the health and function of the brain and body.
Finding inner balance and calm amongst outer chaos in the frenetic world is about regulating your nervous system with effective stress management practices and holistic tools to balance the mind, body, emotions and spirit. We use evidence-based education on the mind-body connection, the stress response, nervous system regulation, mindfulness, meditation and neuro-linguistic programming. This will be integrated into your holistic health approach and create a mind body spirit strategy to improve and transform your life.
